The Effect of the Humidifier on the Pediatric Respiratory Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose to find out the effect of the humidifier on the pediatric respiratory disease, -the author surveyed 540 children visiting nine local clinics and two general hospitals in Tae jeon from January 10 to January 22, 1992.
The results of this study were as follow;
1. The number of admission for respiratory disease morbidity and complication according to the using humidifier or not is equal and has no sex predominance.
2. In the group which is using humidifier, the number of admission for respiratory disease morbidity and complication according to age is decreased (P < 0.001).
3. According to type of the house, the using of humidifier does not effect on the morbidity of the respiratory disease. But the complication incidence due to humidifier is more in single house than grouped house (P < 0.05).
4. When the mother´s schooling is higher, the using rate of humidifier is increased and the number of admission for respiratory disease morbidity and complication is decreased.
5. In the presence of air pollution, the respiratory disease morbidity and complication are increased but these are not related with using the humidifier.
6. In case of using humidifier in family that have smokers, respiratory disease morbidity is higher than have not smokers.
7. The family that usually use humidifier has less morbidity of respiratory disease, but it dose not have direct statistical significance.
